Inspiring Every Child To Make A Positive Difference To the World

We have embarked on two exciting new initiatives with our year 5 & 6 pupils to engage, equip, empower & enable the children to undertake projects that impact our world for the good both on a local & global level.  The children in Oak are particularly passionate about environmental issues and being responsible stewards of our wonderful world.

The projects are the We Act Project and the Arch Bishop of York Youth Trust Young Leaders Award.

The children went to the Nottingham We Community Day at the Royal Concert Hall in November to celebrate a year of action that has transformed communities and changed lives & to be inspired to pick up the baton.  The world renowned speakers included Martin Luther King III, Vicky McLure, Emilio Estevez, Brooke Kinsella, Laura Whitmore & Ornella Barra.

The Young Leaders Award is a leadership and character education programme that shows young people that they have the power to change the world by transforming society.

‘Among the most significant purposes of education are forming people of love, care and compassion, with a deep sense of hope, who appreciate beauty and wonder and who serve the world by their gifts.’  Professor Bart J McGettrick – University of Glasgow, Thinking about Thinking, March 2004.
